Matthew had his State Tournament over the 4th of July weekend!! They played two teams during the pool play to see where to seed them for the tournament. They won the first game 18-4 and then played their next game against Maury County. They lost that game 17-15. It was such a close game but a good game. Donelson went into the tournament ranked #2 in our pool. They played the first game of the tournament on Saturday night and that was against Lawrenceburg. Lawrenceburg was ranked #1 in their pool and Donelson won 23-18 which allowed us to play for the State Championship on Sunday!!! On Sunday 6th, we played Maury County for the championship! They were nervous and so were we!!! It could go anyway at this point. Both teams wanted the title badly! We started off behind 3-0 and then quickly got ahead by the second inning 4-3. It pretty much stayed like that the rest of the game until Maury County pulled ahead 17-11. We thought we were in trouble but then we earned some runs in the 5th inning 19-18. Our boys ended up holding them in the top of the 6th and in the bottom of the 6th we tied it up 19-19 and then with 2 outs on us we scored the winning run to make it 20-19!!!!!!!!!! It was the best game!! All the parents were a nervous wreck but our boys pulled off the WIN!!!! So beyond proud of the boys for not giving up and working hard!!! Their hard work payed off!!! so proud!!!
