Memorial Day 2012

We enjoyed a great Memorial Day! We spent time with family and ate way too much! We are so thankful for all the service men and women who have fought and are fighting for our freedom. I am reminded of a picture of a sign I once saw "Only Two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier, one died for your soul and the other died for your freedom."

Game Ball #2!!!

William played very hard and well yesterday and got his second game ball this season!! William hit the ball well all 3 times he was up to bat and was responsible for 6 of the 17 runs scored! He hit in 4 runs and scored twice on his own!! On Friday, the coaches put William on second base and he stopped a ground ball and threw it to first!! He was so excited!! We are all so proud of you, William and love you to the moon and back, Bubbie!!

Raising Boys
Author: Roberta I. Teague

I scrub the wall of fingerprints,
Pick up the mounds of clothes.
I sweep the dirt that shoes track in-
... Wish I could use a hose!
Meals are served from dawn to dark,
Dirty dishes crowd the sink.
Just when they’re washed and put away-
Everyone wants a drink!
The washer pulls the dirty grime
From pants worn thin and patched.
They look so very neat and clean-
Yuck, look what the pockets hatched!
Broken bones and bloody knees,
I should have been a nurse.
I take it all in shaky stride-
Just grateful it’s not worse!
Screams and shouts and arguments
Test the keeping of my cool.
They left the neighbor’s faucet on-
See their new front yard pool!
A soothing bath is ecstasy,
A reward at the end of my rope.
Raising boys isn’t really bad-
But first I must wash the soap!
A rose can say I Love You,
Orchids can enthrall;
But a weed bouquet in a chubby fist,
Oh my, that says it all!

Game Ball, Baby!

Will received his first EVER game ball last night!  The coach hands out one game ball every game for the player he felt worked the hardest and made good plays. Will has been wanting one since the first game. Well, Will has had a bit of stage fright when it comes to hitting the ball at games.  He always smacks the ball at practice and at home. I told him he would have to work hard for a game ball if he wants one. I have been working with him a lot at home and we throw him near 200 balls a day and he smacks nearly all of them so he knows he can do it. Well, he overcame his mental block last night. He got up there and SMACKED that ball twice and drove in 3 of the runs and then he played shortstop in the last inning. He stopped a ground ball and ran to tag second base and got the runner out. I wanted to cry I was so incredibly proud of him!!! We all knew he could do it. He just had to tell himself he could and he sure did!! He is over the moon excited over his accomplishment! We love you Bubbies and are so proud of you!!

Just One of the Guys

Will had baseball pics the other day and after they were done Will asked if he could ride in the front seat of the van while we drove over to the field for the game. Well, coach put several of the guys in the back of his truck and looked over and saw William's face light up. The coach then came over and got Will out of the van and asked if he wanted to ride with all the boys in the back of the truck. Of course he said "YES"!!! I snapped this pic as they were driving off.......so cute!!!
